Purpose: In Islamic thought, the building of Islamic civilization has always been regarded as a noble ideal by Muslim thinkers, including Morteza Motahari. Motahari emphasized the role of dynamic jurisprudence and seminaries in this process, viewing Islamic law not only as an individual framework but also as a social and civilizational foundation. In this perspective, "humanization" and "civilization" are two essential pillars for advancing toward divine goals. Therefore, civilizational jurisprudence, grounded in dynamic ijtihad, must address new governmental issues and societal challenges. Seminaries, as the heart of Islamic civilization, bear responsibilities such as safeguarding faith, generating new ideas, and responding to societal needs. This study aims to review the role of seminaries in civilization-building, propose a practical model for civilizational jurisprudence, and examine the role of seminaries in civilization-building based on Morteza Motahari's ideas.
Methodology: This research employs a descriptive-analytical approach. Due to the theoretical and foundational nature of the subject, a qualitative research method was adopted, with data collected through library and documentary sources. The theoretical framework is grounded in systems analysis, which examines the causal and contextual components, strategies, and outcomes related to the role of religious schools in civilization-building jurisprudence within the intellectual framework of Shahid Motahari.
Objective: Focusing on the views of Morteza Motahari, this research aims to examine the key components that religious schools must possess to effectively contribute to building Islamic civilization. The central claim of the study is that jurisprudence, particularly in the form of governmental jurisprudence, is one of the most crucial foundational elements in realizing Islamic civilization. Without harnessing its capacities as envisioned in Motahari's thought, success in this endeavor will not be achievable.
