The perspective of Imam Musa al-Sadr, the leader of Lebanese Shia, regarding the Zionist regime of Israel - that "Israel is absolute evil" - has gained widespread recognition. One might assume that al-Sadr's approach to this regime is purely political, stemming from the insecurities this regime has created for residents of southern Lebanon, who are predominantly Shia Muslims. However, upon closer examination of al-Sadr's speeches and writings, it becomes evident that this opposition carries distinct civilizational dimensions.
This article seeks to answer the following questions: What are the theoretical-civilizational dimensions of Sayyid Musa al-Sadr's opposition to the Zionist regime of Israel? And what concrete practical measures did he take based on his theoretical foundations? The central thesis of the article, derived from analysis of al-Sadr's works, demonstrates that he fundamentally viewed the Israeli challenge as a civilizational one. To theoretically frame this challenge, he engaged in discussions about the philosophy of Judaism and emphasized the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque as the intersection point of divine religions and civilizations, ultimately establishing a resistance front against this regime.
Using a descriptive-analytical method, this article examines this thesis derived from al-Sadr's views and analyzes both the theoretical dimensions of the discussion and his practical measures in Lebanon.
